Care Instructions

SCARVES:

As many of my scarves are decorated with hand stitching and/or embellishments I would recommend hand washing in cool/cold water. With all machine embroidered items - take care when pressing. Use a pressing cloth over the design and a warm dry iron setting to protect the rayon thread.Hand embroidery should really be treated much the same and even if cotton thread is used, still take care when pressing -don’t catch the threads on the point of the iron.

If any scarf fabrics look like the colour may run I will include a sachet of “colour run”. Apparently natural fibre fabrics tend to run more than synthetics as the dye does not penetrate as well, so linen and cotton may be an issue……..and reds are notorious for colour running anyway!

BAGS:

  • Cotton shopping bags : machine wash in cold to warm water. If they have machine embroidery designs on them, care must be taken when pressing them. The thread used is usually rayon and will shrink if a hot iron hits it. You can use a pressing cloth over the stitched area and gently use a dry warm iron.

  • Cotton fabric handbags, clutches and purses/wallets : These are best spot cleaned as necessary with a damp cloth.

  • Leather, cork and faux leather : None of these fabrics respond well to a full wash! Just spot clean with a damp cloth. There are probably specific cleaners on the market but I personally have not tried any so don’t wish to recommend them.

SEWING ACCESSORIES:

  • Spot cleaning only with a damp cloth.

JOURNALS & JOURNAL COVERS:

  • The bound journals can only be spot cleaned with damp cloth.

  • If the removable fabric journal covers do not have any embellishments they can be machine washed on a gentle cycle and pressed according to the fabric content. If there is embroidery or applique on removable covers they are best hand washed and ironed with a pressing cloth and warm dry iron.

  • Journal covers made of leather, cork or faux leather can only be carefully spot cleaned with a damp cloth.

COASTERS:

  • Plain 100% cotton fabric coasters can be machine washed and pressed with a hot steam iron.

  • Machine embroidered coasters would benefit from hand-washing - and, as with all machine embroidered items - take care when pressing. Use a pressing cloth over the design and a warm dry iron setting to protect the rayon thread stitching. Hand embroidered should really be treated much the same but even if cotton thread used still take care when pressing-don’t catch the threads on the point of the iron!

  • Leather, cork & faux leather coasters-can only be spot cleaned with a damp cloth.

BOWL COSIES:

  • The cosy is made of 100% cotton (fabric, batting and thread) so a bowl can be placed in the cosy then into the microwave. The food can be heated in 2 minute bursts, stir & test food after each “burst” then continue heating in short bursts until ready. Alternatively -heat food in bowl then remove from microwave and place in bowl cosy. Please follow these instructions - heating the cosy continuously for a longer time could result in burning the cotton - obvious overheating will be judged as misuse and void any warranty claim.

  • These can be machine washed. They can be pulled back into shape once dry and pressed with a hot steam iron, if needed.

ICE CREAM COSIES are coming soon-in time for summer. Keep the ice-cream in your bowl or tub from melting and your hands from getting cold! They are the same as the bowl cosies, except a bit smaller to fit some of the individual serve ice-cream tubs available in the shops. Naturally the Bowl Cosies can still be used for bowls of ice-cream!
